From 29 September to 1 October 2026, Polish food products were promoted under the “Poland tastes good” banner in Santiago, the capital of Chile, at the 14th edition of Espacio Food & Service. KOWR organised a national stand for the third time at Chile’s leading food industry trade fair.
Poland’s presence at Espacio Food & Service 2026
This year, eight food producers and exporters exhibited alongside KOWR in Santiago, seeking new trading partners in Chile and the wider region. Polish businesses promoted cheese, processed cheese, butter and milk powders; cereal and breakfast products; cereal cakes; Polish milk fudge, biscuits and other confectionery; semi-finished products for the confectionery and dairy industries; and turkey meat and preparations. Visitors to the Polish stand from Chile and other South American countries were able to sample different versions of classic Polish dishes: gołąbki (stuffed cabbage rolls), pierogi (filled dumplings) and pączki (doughnuts).
On 28 September 2026, the day before the fair opened, Polish companies had the opportunity to hold business meetings with local partners interested in importing Polish food and to visit the local JUMBO Alto Las Condes retail outlet.
The official opening of the national stand on 29 September was attended by Henryk Smolarz, Director General of KOWR; Michał Świetlik, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. at the Polish Embassy in Chile; Mirosław Maliszewski, Member of the Polish Sejm and Chairman of its Agriculture and Rural Development Committee; Jarosław Krajewski, Member of the Polish Sejm and Chairman of the Polish-Chilean Parliamentary Group; and Adam Pejcha, a manager at PAIH’s Foreign Trade Office in Chile.
Espacio Food & Service
Espacio Food & Service is Chile’s largest food industry trade fair. It provides an excellent opportunity to establish new business contacts, discover market trends and food industry innovations in Chile and other South American countries, and promote Polish products in Chile and the wider region. The organisers expect around 50,000 trade visitors.
Polish agri-food exports to Chile
Polish agri-food exports to Chile reached EUR 82 million in 2025, significantly exceeding the levels recorded in previous years. After two years of KOWR’s work to support trade in this market, the value of exports had increased by 65%. This year’s figures suggest that, after three years of activity, the increase could be as much as 100%.
Poland’s main exports to Chile are:
- sugar syrups (isoglucose): 30%;
- water and beverages (sweetened beverages): 24%;
- coffee and tea: 14.6%;
- confectionery: 7%;
- cereal and flour preparations: 5%;
- frozen turkey and chicken meat and offal: 4.5%.
Although Chile is a well-known producer and exporter of many food products, its market also offers opportunities for imports, including from Poland, as trade data confirm. Chile imports substantial quantities of agri-food products. In 2025, these imports were worth approximately EUR 9.3 billion and came from 112 countries worldwide.
