Polish national stand at the 2023 Internationale Grüne Woche Berlin

Another edition of the international trade fair for food, agriculture and horticulture – Internationale Grüne Woche Berlin – took place from January 20 to 29, 2023. This trade fair, so important for agriculture and food economy, with 97 years of tradition, was an opportunity for exhibitors from all over the world – this year, approximately 4,000 exhibitors from 60 countries – to present their offer.
Poland was represented not only by the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, but also by Marshal’s Offices of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, as well as the Organization of Sturgeon Fish Producers, and individual businesses with stands in other sectors.
The Polish national stand was organized by the KOWR under the theme ‘Polen schmeckt’ (Poland tastes good) the visitors were able to learn about the offer of 10 Polish food producers of, among other things, powdered dairy products, ice cream, cured meats, fruit and vegetable preparations, including pickles, jams and dried products, candy, organic products, bulk products, including sugar, flours, groats and flakes, plant based beverages, gluten-free blends, and cold-pressed oils.
The Polish national stand was officially opened by Henryk Kowalczyk, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and Małgorzata Gośniowska-Kola, Deputy Director General at the KOWR. The Deputy Prime Minister Kowalczyk received at the Polish national stand, among others, Cem Ӧzdemir, German Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture, and Janusz Wojciechowski, EU Commissioner for Agriculture. He also held meetings with the ministers of agriculture from EU and non-EU countries who participated in the Agriculture Ministers’ Conference organized during the fair under the heading ’Food Systems Transformation: A Worldwide Response to Multiple Crises’.
During the first weekend of the fair, the Polish national stand was also visited by representatives of the Rural Housewives’ Club “Zimna Wódka” from the Opole Voivodeship, who won the 7th Culinary Competition for Rural Housewives’ Clubs ‘Battle of the Regions’. They prepared and presented Polish regional dishes during.
During the following days of the fair, the Polish national stand and Polish regional stands were visited by official delegations, notably by Claudia Müller, the Parliamentary State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and Dennis Buchner, President of the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin.
Food tasting and culinary shows led by Polish chefs were held each day at the Polish national stand with the aim of introducing the fair visitors to the Polish cuisine, culinary tradition and culture.
The event was very popular among the visitors.
