Every two years, the first weekend in October marks the start of the five-day ANUGA food industry trade fair in Cologne, which is a mandatory event marked in the calendar of many producers and exporters. The National Agricultural Support Centre, which has been organising national stands at this fair since 2013, was also a mandatory participant in Cologne.
At this year’s fair, the NASC delegation is led by Deputy Director General Leszek Iwaniuk, who, together with the NASC Export Support Director, officially opened the national stand on the first day of the fair, 4 October 2025.
From 4-8 October 2025, under the Poland tastes good banner, 42 companies are presenting their export offer to potential clients from Germany and around the world, exhibiting in 3 sectors: Fine Food, Dairy and Beverages. The stand in the Fine Food sector was organised as part of the sector promotion programme for the food sector 2024-2029 (BRAND HUB). As part of this stand, eight companies will benefit from a B2B meeting area provided free of charge. The BRAND HUB zone also hosts culinary demonstrations, during which visitors to the national stand can taste flagship dishes of Polish cuisine, including pierogi, tartare, żurek (sour soup), borscht, stuffed duck, potato cake, apple pie, cream pie with fruit and many other delicacies.
Polish companies exhibiting at the national stand together with the NASC are promoting a wide range of food products in Cologne, including sweets, groats, flours, pasta, herbs and spices, mushroom and berries products, fish products, processed meat products, ready meals, mayonnaise and sauces, protein chips, fresh fruit and fruit snacks, processed fruit and vegetable products, vegan products, juices, concentrates, fruit drinks and syrups, teas, functional drinks, liqueurs, milk, butter and cheese, milk powders and egg powders.
ANUGA is the world’s largest and most important food and beverage trade fair. Exhibitors present their products in 10 sectors (Fine Food, Drinks, Chilled & Fresh Food, Meat, Frozen Food, Dairy, Bread & Bakery, Hot Beverages, Organic and Alternatives) and in 11 halls. In odd-numbered years, the Cologne trade fair offers the opportunity to learn about product innovations, discover the latest trends in the industry and make contact with food distributors and importers, representatives of retail chains, trade organisations and the HoReCa sector, as well as industry media.
The previous edition of ANUGA, held in 2023, attracted 7,900 exhibitors and 140,000 visitors from 200 countries. For years, ANUGA has also been of great interest to Polish companies. The list of exhibitors at this year’s fair includes 281 entities from Poland. Participation in this fair is an opportunity to strengthen the recognition of Polish brands on foreign markets and to reach the largest food-buying customers, not only from Germany.
Germany has for years remained the main customer for Polish agri-food products among EU countries, with a share of 26% last year. In 2024, we exported EUR 13.6 billion worth of agri-food goods to our western neighbour. German food-buying customers were most likely to buy the following products from Poland: fish and processed fish products – mainly salmon; processed cereal and flour products – mainly bread, cakes and pastries; poultry; confectionery; red meat and processed meat products; dairy products – mainly milk, cream, cheese and cottage cheese; vegetables – mainly champignons and processed vegetable products; fruit – including apples, raspberries, cherries, jams and other processed fruit products.
