The three-day food fair – Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL – was launched in Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, on 1 July 2025. This is the first time the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) organises the Polish national stand at this fair.
KOWR presents its offer under the Poland tastes good brand accompanied by 9 entrepreneurs seeking prospective commercial contracts on the Malaysian market. The Polish food and beverage producers and exporters promote, among others, confectionery and chocolate products (cookies, pralines, wafers, chocolate-dipped fruits and bars), frozen fruits and vegetables, fish and caviar, milk powders and dairy products, organic food, semi-products and instant products for the confectionery, bakery and dairy sectors as well as for HoReCa.
The Malaysian and other visitors seized the occasion to familiarise with the Polish cuisine watching the culinary shows and tasting typical Polish snacks and dishes, including: apple crumpets, doughnuts stuffed with Kashubian strawberry confiture and Szydłowiecka plum powidl, stuffed cabbage rolls, dock soup, Silesian potato dumplings and potato pancakes.
On the day preceding the fair, i.e. 30 June 2025, the Polish entrepreneurs were provided with the opportunity to participate in the visits to the local retail chains (Jaya Grocer, Mercato, NSK Grocer), organised in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Office of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Kuala Lumpur.
The Food & Drinks Malaysia by SIAL fair is among the most important exhibition events of the food sector in Malaysia. It is organised in cooperation with the renowned Comexposium Group, one of the largest food fair organisers in the world (events under the SIAL brand). Food & Drinks Malaysia may open the gate both to the Malaysian market and markets of the other South-Eastern Asia countries. The fair organisers make every effort to deliver an inspiring networking event, promoting establishing contacts between the food and beverage producers and distributors, importers, retail operators and food market experts.
Despite a decreasing share in GDP, the agricultural sector in Malaysia accounts for approx. 8-10%. It includes such crops as rice, oil palm, cacao and animal breeding, primarily poultry. The Polish products are thus complementary to a large extent to the Malaysian products. In 2024, the Polish agri-food export to this country amounted to EUR 49.8 million and was dominated by milk products, cereal and farinaceous products, poultry meat and offal, feeds, sugar syrups and confectionery products. Malaysia belongs to the most dynamically developing South-Eastern Asia economies and is a promising market for Polish export.
